Beginner training plan
Your first lessonThe first lesson will be focused on building a basic understanding of the sport. This includes going over the rules, court, scoring as well as starting to get you comfortable with holding a paddle and hitting basic shots.
Lesson 11+All lessons after the tenth will focus more on live gameplay. Hitting a ball that’s fed is great to get your feet wet, but to truly grasp the sport, live points paired with feedback takes your game even further!
Lesson 4-10The fourth through the tenth lessons will focus on accuracy, decision making and mentality. Now that you have a basic understanding of different shots, as well as court positioning, it’s time to start adding variety to your game by learning what types of shots to hit and when.
Lesson 2-3The second and third lessons will build upon the first where we expand on different shots as well as court awareness.
Youth players
Working with kidsI adapt my lessons to children differently than I do adults. When it comes to teaching children, I try and find out what interests the most and try to incorporate that as much as possible into the sport. I’ve found children are more receptive and enjoy something more when they are more engaged!
Working with teenagersTeenagers I approach in the same way as children, but at a different level. I try and find out what their goals are for learning. Do they want to play in college? Do they want to pick it up to stay active? Are they looking to become a ringer and beat all their friends? Whatever the reason, it’s important to discover in order to ensure that they are getting out of the time what they want.
