What do they know? What is their level of play? What is their goal in taking lessons? We will go over the basic rules as needed. We will identify their strengths and weaknesses and set a plan based on those goals. Then, as time permits, we will drill. Every consecutive lesson will generally be followed in order, and tailored as needed.
Tailored to the players' needs.
Drops, resets, the transition zone, offense (volleys, speedups, etc.), the soft game/kitchen game. This is a HUGE part of pickleball, and you can practice this well past 4.0. We will do isolated drills for each. My favorite drill is called 7-11. It is played with half the court. One person is at the kitchen, dishing out offense, and another at the baseline, trying to work their way to the kitchen. The offensive player has to get 11 points to win, and the baseline player has to get 7 points to win. Skinny Singles will also be as live gameplay coaching, and another soft game drill called Dinkgles. We will also talk about the different types of spin, how to generate them, and when to use them as well as footwork like split stepping, pivoting, and reaching.
We will work on serving deep and returning deep, as well as following the 2 bounce rule. We will drill serve and stay, and return and run.
