The goals for the first lesson are to just understand the basics of the game. Weβll go over rules, scoring, etc., and then start with the basic strategies of dinking, dropping, serving and returning.
We will go over the basic strategies of getting to the kitchen, third shot drops, punch volleys, ground strokes, lobs, and overheads. You will be more than equipped to go play a game even if youβve never picked up a paddle before!
The player will have a good understanding of the fundamentals and will be able to practice more double strategy and how to effectively set up points, attacking, and resets.
These will be more advanced and can work on specific shots, such as flicks, top spin rolls, and play drilling games like 7-11 and skinny singles. We can shore up areas needed for improvement and continue to get more consistent to be able to dominate your next Pickleball game!
After warm-up, we typically play a game of skinny singles to see where the player is at and what needs improvement.
These are really player dependent β an advanced player will have some idea of what they need to work on, but will be able to coach them up and work on areas needed for improvement.
These will typically be more advanced, such as footwork, or positioning, will do different drills, such as fireball checkmate to work on harder shot such as reset in advancing to the kitchen throughout the transition zone. We can work on anything the player would like to improve.
Shot specific drills and advanced strategies the player would like to improve on.
