Learn Pickleball with Joe

My pickleball journey began after I played tennis from ages 27 to 30, discovering I had a knack for it. Three years ago, a high school friend and skilled tennis player introduced me to pickleball, and I've been addicted ever since, quickly becoming a strong player. Many players avoid hitting in my direction because I get to almost everything. I'm patient and encouraging with new players and have even offered pointers to a player I consider slightly better than me, which he humbly accepted and used to improve. Now, we're closely matched. I excel in singles and am often a top choice for doubles partners. I participated in the Show-Me State Games (SMSG) and won gold in my first year, marking my third gold medal in a third different sport across three decades, which I'm very proud of. I play multiple times a week and have a true passion for pickleball.

I had a lot of experience playing tennis before I picked up some pickleball. Joe showed me some of the differences between the two sports, and the things that I would have to do differently. He was extremely encouraging and helpful. He even let me use his nice paddle and invited me to play a couple of other times! Joe is a very nice guy.

Joe is a great athlete and he is knowledgeable about body mechanics. He helped me become an even better player. Playing with him is fun, and he & I have put up a great fight as team members against extremely skilled players! I’d play with him anytime, and I recommend him as a coach.

I went from never playing an organized sport in my entire life to becoming relatively successful at the game with Joe’s tips & encouragement. He found a way to motivate me that was personalized. I highly recommend Joe, he’s awesome, fun, and also a great pickleball player himself!

Joe is a great guy and super energetic! It’s tough to play against him, but he’s very courteous in teaching beginners! His tips are specific and helpful, far more than, “Well, you gotta hit the ball in the lines.” I would recommend Joe to anyone!

Joe invited me to play pickleball with the club. I had fun, and after watching the different players play the game, I’m certain that nobody can say that it’s not a sport. Joe is an awesome player and he’s also a really cool guy.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonWe will make sure that you know the basic rules and concepts about the game. I will evaluate your game and tell you what you do well and what we can do to improve your game. We will go over a few things and do them well, so as not to overload you or impede fundamental progress.
Lesson 11+A receptive student should be a much better player already, and I would love to test your skills against tough opponents in friendly games. I will give you some real-time feedback and suggestions concerning EVERYTHING about your game. Additionally, I will make suggestions concerning the mental parts of the game including focus, confidence(by now I will have instilled a great deal in you), staying within your personal strengths as a player, and not overthinking or becoming too fancy. At this point in your progression, you will be playing solid & consistent pickleball! Nobody will be able to pick on you as a player by targeting you, and if they try to, you will know how to make them regret it!
Lesson 4-10By now, you will have seen your game improve already! We will fine tune your skills, and I can teach you some tricky shots and/or body mechanics/deception. I will teach you about ball spin, including when and how to use it.
Lesson 2-3We will learn court positioning, playing with your partner, different shot styles, shot choices, paddle positioning, body mechanics, tactics, and more. Even from lesson number one, the lessons will be tailored to your needs as a player.
