“It’s all in the wrist” - that’s what my old coach told me when I started playing tennis as a teenager, and then continued playing for the next 6 years. That means that in the first lesson, we will go through how to hold and handle the paddle the correct way.
We will do basic shots, go through the ground rules, practice serving and keeping a flow.
At this point you should hopefully be well versed in each part of the game play, know how to position yourself and know what shot to take, depending on what return you receive. We will play more serious games, where you will be challenged, as if it was in a tournament
We will continue with everything we have done so far, but gradually focus on putting spin on your hits in different ways. Top spin is crucial for a good serve and a good return, as well as making short “stop balls” from the baseline, making the opponent run very fast to have a chance.
We will also start practicing actual games, so you are fit for playing both doubles and singles.
We will continue practicing serves and keeping a flow and motion. We will also slowly start to practice “dinks”, which is where you are close to the net and are making small shots.
