About your pickleball coach

Five years ago, during the pandemic, I began playing pickleball regularly, quickly falling in love with the sport. Over the past two years, I've immersed myself in the game, playing, drilling, and competing in tournaments up to four times per week. While unofficially coaching beginners during this time, my passion for pickleball has grown immensely, driving me to train towards becoming a senior pickleball professional. Currently rated around 4.1 on the DUPR rating scale, I actively participate in advanced tournaments, aiming to elevate my skills further on the path to achieving my professional goals. As a medical doctor, I see pickleball as embodying the values of health, happiness, and community, and I'm eager to share these aspects of the game with others.

The lesson with Janette was quite helpful, especially in developing better control of my shots. Though I still need to work on my consistency, I appreciated her clear guidance and the relaxed atmosphere. It’s encouraging to see progress and I’m optimistic about future lessons to fine-tune my technique. If you're looking for someone who focuses on practical skill-building without rushing, I’d suggest giving Janette a try!

I really enjoyed learning the basics with Janette. She made the it easy to understand and the practice session was very engaging. If you want a clear and fun introduction to pickleball, her lessons are a great place to start. Will be happy to have another lesson with her! πŸŽΎπŸ™‚

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI believe in teaching the fundamentals initially. The four main positions that include serving , receiving, kitchen line and transition zone must be understood to be able to play a game. learning how to keep score is important too! I then pick 1-3 technical skills to focus on for that lesson. The goal of the first lesson is mostly to have fun and learn the basics of the game of pickle ball! I hope the student leaves the first class excited to play again and ready to learn more!!
Lesson 11+As a player gains competence in technical and tactical skills more refinement of specific skills can be addressed. Repetition with drilling and practice can not be underestimated if you want to get better. Tournament play and traing for it can be a great motivator to improve your game.
Lesson 4-10Once technical skills are developed enough to enjoy and feel confident playing then tactical skills are addressed! Tactical skills include such things as accuracy, consistency and positioning. Drilling and real life competitive games further lesson helps solidify skills!
Lesson 2-3In the next few classes we continue to learn the basic technical skills such as stance, paddle readiness, contact point of the ball and weight transfer. All of these technical skills must be applied to each position in the court! Practicing real game scenarios reinforces the skills learned at the beginning of the lesson! Drilling and practicing is emphasized in order to improve your game!!

What you need to bringFor your first class make sure to bring a padel, comfortable clothes, a hat and water. The dress code for pickle ball is very liberal so just be comfortable. The most important thing to bring is an open mind because with this you will learn better and enjoy the lesson

What I can bringIf you don’t have a padel I can bring one for you initially but you will want to have your own so you can get out there and practice what you have learned.
