Beginner training plan
Your first lessonWe’ll start with a quick conversation about your experience and goals, then build a strong foundation: grip, ready position, basic strokes, serving, returning, scoring and court positioning. We’ll keep things moving and get you playing points quickly. My goal is for you to leave your first lesson understanding the game, feeling comfortable on the court and excited to play again.
Lesson 2-3We’ll build consistency with serves, returns, forehands, backhands and volleys while introducing the kitchen, dinking and moving to the net. We’ll also begin working on positioning and shot selection so you understand not only how to hit the ball, but where to be and why. Each lesson will include drills plus game situations so your new skills translate into actual play.
Lesson 4-10Now we turn fundamentals into a complete game. We’ll work on dinking, drops, drives, resets, transition-zone play, volleys and doubles strategy based on your individual needs. We’ll use coached points and match play to improve court awareness, decision-making and consistency. As you progress, lessons become increasingly personalized around the areas that will make the biggest difference in your game.
Lesson 11+At this stage, coaching becomes highly personalized. We’ll identify patterns in your game, strengthen weaknesses and develop the skills and strategy needed to reach your next level. Sessions may include advanced shot selection, partner positioning, point construction, match play and competitive preparation. We’ll continually reassess your progress so you’re always working toward a specific goal rather than simply repeating drills.
