We begin with introductions so I can understand each player’s background, experience, and any injuries to ensure a safe and comfortable session. A dynamic warm-up follows to prepare the body and reduce risk of injury.
From there, I observe players in a live, game-based setting to assess movement, coordination, and natural tendencies. Instruction focuses on core fundamentals at the Non-Volley Zone, including positioning, efficient movement, and controlled dinking. My goal is to build confidence quickly while helping players feel successful on the court from day one.
Lessons become more personalized and performance-driven based on each player’s goals.
Focus may include:
* Advanced shot selection and strategy
* Expanding shot variety (volleys, lobs, resets, overheads)
* Improving efficiency, footwork, and reaction time
* Game awareness, anticipation, and competitive readiness
Players are challenged through game-based scenarios that simulate real match conditions, allowing them to confidently apply their skills in play.
At this stage, players develop stronger consistency and begin refining strategy.
Focus includes:
* Shot accuracy and placement (short, deep, cross-court)
* Transition play and decision-making
* Introduction to third shot options (drop or drive)
* Court positioning and awareness in doubles play
Lessons combine skill development with realistic gameplay, helping players become more confident, consistent, and effective during matches.
These sessions build consistency and confidence through structured drills and guided gameplay.
Players focus on:
* Improving contact point and paddle control
* Movement and positioning at the Non-Volley Zone
* Transitioning from the baseline to the net
* Developing consistency with controlled shots and placement
Players begin applying these skills in real-time play so they can immediately see progress in their game.
