I'm a native Floridian who traded golf clubs and tennis rackets for the exhilarating world of pickleball in 2020. Since then, I've become a certified instructor with Pickleball Coaching International and shared my passion through over 100 clinics and private lessons. My teaching philosophy is simple – tailor the learning experience to each individual, focusing on fundamentals, drills, and tactical insights. I take pride in helping my students achieve their specific goals efficiently and effectively. Recently, I've ventured into the virtual realm as a VR Pickleball Coaching Consultant and contributed online coaching articles for an industry leading pickleball company. I am an ambassador for several pickleball companies and have several varieties of paddles for my students to demo during our time together. Derek is an amazing teacher who wants to help you succeed. Before lessons he identifies areas to work on and creates a personalized lesson plan. His drills are creative and targeted so you get fast results. He tailors his feedback by watching your movements and tweaking the way you move. He is always positive with lots of energy to keep you motivated. In my first lesson I could already see improvements in my overhead slams.

Derek has an amazing gift for coaching pickleball. His drills are creative, well thought out and well executed & he keeps you moving. Every time I take a lesson with him I notice an improvement in my game. I highly recommend Derek for any level player beginner to advanced.

Derek gave me two lessons at a private court in Wellington. I was having trouble with my serves. Derek set up plastic bowling pins and made a game of my serve. Wouldn’t you know it, I mastered my serve right after! Thanks Derek!

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonWe will build from the ground floor up. You will learn the fundamentals , rules, and scoring. I will also introduce you to the basics ground strokes
Lesson 11+We will bring it all together and we can work on any skills you need improvement on.
Lesson 4-10I will refine the basics and then start to implement more advanced shots and tactics as it relates to winning the point.
Lesson 2-3I will start to implement different drills to help you start to improve your level of gameplay.
