I became a certified pickleball instructor in October 2023. After moving to Hudsonville in December, I began teaching pickleball in February. I focus on helping players elevate their game from a 3.5 to a 4.0 level by honing essential skills and improving consistency. My teaching style is based more in game play situations versus static practice. Drills are fast paced and realistic. Practicing/drilling helps you apply the various skills into your everyday game. My main goal is for you to have fun and improve your skills while you are with me.

Dave is a fun knowledgeable player and instructor. Lessons are always enjoyable and Dave has good ability to communicate on skills needed to improve player consistency and knowledge of the game. I recommend him for group sessions as well as individual coaching and drilling.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonThe first lesson is starting with the basics- not very exciting but having the right foundation will make the game much more enjoyable and let you improve as you continue to play. Going over the rules, how to hold the paddle, and the main strokes - dinking, volley, drives and serves.
Lesson 4-10Focused drills on the various strokes in game play situations. Working on transition zone reset and blocking at the net.
Lesson 2-3This lesson will be more focused on the four strokes introduced in the first lesson along with footwork.
Advanced training plan
Youth players
Working with kidsStarting out right with the proper techniques is so important for kids that want to play pickleball. Drills will be focused on how to hold the paddle, ready position and footwork. Once they get comfortable with those then we move into the basic strokes
Working with teenagersLearning what they know about the game and how much they have played- developing the classes based on their skill levels
What you need to bringPlease have court shoes- not running shoes.
