Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI start by asking questions to see how much experience the beginner has? Then I go into shots and strategy if they have experience. If they don’t have experience, then I go over rules and let them play a couple games to get the hang of keeping score and playing skinny singles. I also asked them to go to the park a lot more to play wreck games, letting the players they play with know that they are beginners.
Lesson 11+Kitchen games to increase hand, speed with volleys (slow and fast) to forehand and backhand. Increasing consistency with flatter hits and blocks to keep the ball low over the net.
Lesson 4-10Kitchen drills, transition, zone drills, and baseline drill drills for consistency along with kitchen games, transition games, and baseline games. You can also expect a lot of backhand drills.
Lesson 2-3Serve and returns, drives and drops, dinks and speed ups to volleys with some skinny singles, gameplay in the last 15 min.

I think Chance's focus on tailoring drills to what I need was pretty helpful, especially calling out specific areas to work on. Though I still need to get better at returns and deciding when to approach or drop back quickly, the lesson gave me some practical ideas to practice. If you're into pickleball and want someone who really listens, Chance is worth trying out.

Clear direction and good tweaks to help solve a couple issues. In particular some drop mechanics that really gave me a step forward.

Wow, Chance really took the time to find a lesson plan that aligned with my goals. The lesson highlighted was quite helpful, and I felt like I made steady progress. It’s good to see that he tailors his approach, and I’m hopeful future lessons will continue building on this foundation. If you’re thinking about pickleball lessons, Chance might be worth a try.

Chance is great at assessing my skill deficits and giving me corrective tips and drills to improve. He always has a smile on his face and is positive and patient during instruction. I’ve tried other coaches, but have made the fastest progress with Chance!

I really enjoy having Chance as my coach. My pickleball game has improved considerably under his coaching. He's always able to identify my problem areas and provide clear guidance to help fix the issue at hand. He's patient and upbeat and his lessons are always super informative and fun.

I highly recommend Chance as an instructor because of his patience and great communication skills. During my first six months of pickleball I was stuck in the beginner stage. After about five lessons with Chance I moved into the intermediate phase of the game and now, after more than a dozen lessons, I’m no longer the ā€œweak linkā€ in a doubles match plus I’m enjoying myself a lot more.
