First lesson, we’ll begin with a quick warm-up/talk about the students goals, and then focus on posture and frame. The student will learn the basic step of their chosen dance style, and begin practicing it slowly without music before adding rhythm, we will work on technique and finish with a short cool-down and review. The student will be encouraged to practice the basic step at home until our next lesson.
**Lesson 11 Overview**
In Lesson 11, we’ll review everything learned so far, focusing on each dance style and the choreography the student has been working on. The student will go through each dance, practicing and refining the steps, turns, and technique, while paying attention to posture, rhythm, and fluidity. I’ll encourage the student to freestyle or come up with their own short choreography, allowing them to showcase their creativity and personal style. After the review, I’ll reward their hard work with a guest pass to my most upcoming class, as a thank you for their dedication and progress.
**Lessons 4-10 Dance Lesson Overview**
In lessons 4-10, we’ll focus on refining the steps and techniques learned in previous lessons while gradually adding to the choreography. Each lesson will build upon the last, incorporating new steps, turns, or styling elements to enhance the choreography. We'll focus on perfecting posture, timing, and partner connection, emphasizing technique to ensure smooth movement and lead/follow dynamics. As the student becomes more comfortable with their current choreography, we’ll begin to introduce variations and additional elements to expand their repertoire. Towards the later lessons (7-10), we’ll introduce different dance styles , and adapt the choreography accordingly, helping the student transition between styles and refine their versatility as a dancer. The student will be encouraged to practice all choreography and techniques learned, preparing for a more polished performance by lesson 11.
**Second & Third Dance Lesson Overview**
In these lessons, we’ll begin by reviewing the basic steps and posture from the first lesson to reinforce muscle memory. Then, we’ll introduce new variations or additional steps, We’ll focus on improving rhythm, timing, and fluidity between steps, the student will practice with music to build confidence and flow. For homework, the student will continue practicing all the steps and focus musicality until the next lesson.
**Advanced Dance Private Lesson Training Plan (First Lesson)**
**Objective**: Refine technique, explore complex patterns, and enhance styling.
**1. Warm-up & Technique Review (10 minutes)**
- Focus on posture, alignment, and mobility.
- Review basic steps and identify areas for improvement.
**2. Advanced Technique Focus (15 minutes)**
- Work on complex footwork (turns, spins) and improve balance, timing, and sharpness.
**3. Choreography or Routine Refinement (15 minutes)**
- Review and refine choreography, focusing on transitions, musicality, and personal style.
**4. Styling & Improvisation (10 minutes)**
- Practice styling elements and encourage improvisation to develop unique expression.
The student will be encouraged to practice key elements until the next lesson.
**Lesson 11 Overview (Advanced Dance)**
In Lesson 11, we’ll focus on reviewing and refining everything learned so far, ensuring the student is confident in the different styles and choreography. The student will go through their repertoire, polishing performance quality and technique in each piece. Additionally, the student will have the opportunity to receive constructive feedback and work on any areas needing improvement. As a reward for their progress, the student will receive a guest pass to attend one of my upcoming classes. They will also have the option to assist me in teaching upcoming choreography, offering a valuable opportunity to gain teaching experience and further develop their skills.
**Lessons 4-10 Overview (Advanced Dance)**
In lessons 4-10, we’ll focus on enhancing versatility by incorporating industry-style dancing (e.g., commercial, contemporary, hip-hop, jazz). These lessons will explore different dance styles commonly used in the entertainment industry, helping the student adapt to various rhythms, movements, and choreography demands. We’ll work on refining performance quality, including stage presence, facial expressions, and storytelling through dance. Alongside building technical skills, the student will start developing their dance portfolio by recording rehearsals, refining pieces for potential auditions, and preparing material for professional gigs. Each lesson will focus on a specific style or combination of styles, ensuring the dancer builds a diverse and adaptable repertoire. By the end of lesson 10, the student will have polished pieces ready to present and an expanded portfolio showcasing their versatility.
**Lessons 2-3 Overview (Advanced Dance)**
In lessons 2 and 3, we’ll focus on further refining technique and expanding choreography. We’ll build upon the work from the first lesson, incorporating more complex patterns, transitions, and faster tempo work. The dancer will work on improving fluidity and precision in turns, footwork, and body movement, ensuring smoother execution. We'll also focus on stylistic elements, adding personal flair and expression to the routine. Additionally, we’ll work on musicality, syncing movements more closely with the music’s phrasing. As the lessons progress, the dancer will also be encouraged to experiment with improvisation and explore creative ways to adapt choreography to different music styles.
