Richard is a practicing musician as well as a piano teacher. This is important to me because he continues to learn therefore, he fully understands the roll of a learner. He is versatile with a wide variety of musical genre. Richard helps me by pointing out small discrete nuances that make the difference between playing the piano and playing it well. Additionally, he is willing to help students by text or phone during the week when they have questions about the music. He encourages students to compose their own music, as well. Concomitantly, he enjoys his student's and celebrates progress. I highly recommend Richard as a personable and knowledgable piano teacher.

I've been taking lessons with Richard for just a little over 6 months now and all I can say is that he is an amazing instructor. He hasn't followed a one size fits all script in his lessons but has instead worked with my musical interests at my pace in a way that is truly valuable. He has always kept things fun, interesting, and engaging even at times when I've felt overwhelmed and discouraged. This is an instructor tgat is truly adaptable to his students and will make sure that they get the most out of their lessons. We selected Richard to teach piano to our teenage son, Mason. He has done an amazing job. Mason could already read music since he's in choir, but he had never played an instrument. In just a few months, Mason is playing with both hands and is learning to improvise. Richard teaches him theory and the basics of different styles like rock, jazz, and classical. Mason's favorite thing about his lessons is that Richard makes them interesting. I had my doubts that Mason would stick with piano. I think he is successful because of Richard's style and personality.

My 8yr old daughter has been taking lessons with Richard for about 3 years now and enjoys it. Richard makes it fun for her age by choosing fun and popular songs. He has also taught her to play by ear as well as read music. Last school semester, she tried out and was selected to perform at her school's talent show. As a proud mom, I will have memories for a lifetime. Even in these tough times, our Zoom piano Lessons keep her engaged as she continues to grow her skills.

Mr. Richard is an awesome teacher! Two of my children currently take lessons from him. He is able to adapt and teach to both of their very different learning styles and interests. They both have made a lot of progress over a short period of time. He genuinely cares about them and their progress and his love for music is infectious. I highly recommend him as a teacher and hope we will be learning with him for years to come.
