About your piano coach

With a foundation in European conservatory training and ongoing studies in the United States, I approach both teaching and performance as deeply interconnected disciplines rooted in perseverance, empathy, and authenticity. Having completed the second level of the Romanian Pedagogy Modules, which qualify graduate students to teach at both pre-college and college levels, my pedagogy is guided by the example of my outstanding mentors: Angela Pascu, Daniel Goiti, Stefan Arnold, and Boris Slutsky. My approach views virtuosity as a powerful tool: never an end in itself, but a means to facilitate meaningful and honest expression. My experience as a soloist, chamber musician, accompanist, improviser, and conductor gives me a multifaceted approach to music and education. Aside from refining their understanding of those innermost, intuitive aspects of musical architecture, I aim to encourage students of all ages to engage critically with the score, develop informed interpretations, and cultivate artistic independence. By fostering resilience, intellectual curiosity, and self-awareness, I prepare my students not only for the demands of the profession but also for a lifelong, sustainable relationship with their art, grounded in purpose, reflection, and an unwavering respect for the power of music to connect across barriers.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonFor the first lesson, I will consult the student on their musical experience so far and their expectations for our course. We will then determine the level of the player; based on that, we can tailor a plan for each person individually. For a beginner, we will start with some basic music theory knowledge, some posture tips and excercises, and discuss future repertoire.
Lesson 11+You will continue to improve, to discover more and more challenges worth conquering, more interesting pieces to learn. With time, music becomes less about just trying to play the right notes; we will be able to tell stories, to dive really deep into the language of music, until what was previously unintelligible and abstract will become a home to your innermost thoughts. I'm excited for our journey together, and I assure you, the progress is worth the work!
Lesson 4-10By this point, regardless of where we started, you may feel like this music thing is a bit hard. Don't give up! You may not notice your progress yet, but I do. Keep up the good work!
Lesson 2-3By now the student would already be given some excercises to practice regularly, and repertoire according to their interests and playing level.

What you need to bringA blank sheet music notebook, and, as the lessons progress, their own copy of the score

What I can bringScores, pencils
