About your piano coach

With over five decades immersed in the world of piano, I cultivate a passion for music in each student. As a former symphony conductor, and educator, I can bring a wealth of experience, joy and fun to anybody that is learning or relearning the piano. From early beginning methods and short songs ( which I can help make fun!) to Beethoven or Billy Joel. I’ll help give you the tools to make the music, and even improvise within it. Young or old. Beginner or advanced.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonMeet, get to know each other, discover what level you are at, what kind of music you would like to aspire to play or play now. Listen to you if you already play, even a little . I will help you make the first steps towards reading music, learning to feel comfortable with actual keyboard and we will set some goals and get started! Slowly, patiently. At your own pace.
Lesson 11+You will have a foundation. You will be able to read music, your hands will feel familiar and comfortable at the keyboard, and from there…music .. real live music is being made from you and your hands!
Lesson 4-10We will start to work parallel with both exercises, scales, and arpeggios and go further to actual songs and the working them up.
Lesson 2-3You will be getting comfortable at the piano, comfortable where the notes lie on the piano, and we will begin to connect the notes on a page of music to your hands on the keyboard. Once we get here, the whole world begins to open. I will also be giving exercises on strengthening the fingers, and might even begin to introduce ways of improvising.

Youth players
Working with kidsI start slow while teaching kids. I want them to have fun at the beginning. Fun in learning music and learning the keyboard,

Working with teenagersI have lots of experience working with teenagers as far as teaching piano, and my years as a youth, Symphony Orchestra director. I know how busy teenage kids can be. They have a lot on their plate. I work with them to find a good place that piano can be in their lives.

What you need to bringJust the music and method books we start to work with, and their enthusiasm to learning and playing on the most wonderful, complete, fun instrument ever invented. The Piano.

What I can bringMusic. Either sheet music or iPad.

David is an awesome teacher. I began at level one . ( though I read music as I play flute). In my time with him I went to intermediate songs that I never thought I would get to so quickly. He’s patient, funny, and most of all.,inspiring

I found David after my piano teacher moved. I saw his bio and thought I could get his coaching for my regional competition. His expertise was on from the first session. He really knew how to teach and I did great in the competition and made the finals,
