Your first lesson
For a beginner's first lesson, I start by learning about the student's background, interests, and goals so I can tailor my teaching approach to their needs. I then introduce the fundamentals of piano playing, including proper posture, bench position, hand and finger placement, and basic keyboard orientation. The lesson is designed to help the student feel comfortable at the piano while building a strong foundation for future learning.
Lesson 2-3Students begin developing a steady sense of rhythm by learning basic counting, become more familiar with the layout of the keyboard and note names, and build finger strength, coordination, and dexterity through simple exercises and beginning pieces. These lessons reinforce proper technique while establishing the foundational skills needed for confident piano playing.
What you need to bringThere should be a piano or weighted keyboard for piano lessons-or a guitar that is the right size for the student for guitar lessons.
What I can bringPiano or guitar method books, sheet music, theory worksheets, and supplemental learning materials.
