Beginner training plan
Your first lessonEvery first session is an in depth look at how you move, what you do well, and what are your challenges. We’ll do it all together so you’ll learn as you go, but my goal is to understand where your body is on the health continuum, and then plan out what needs to happen to move you closer to optimal health. You will get homework, what and how much depends on where you are in the journey.
Lesson 11+By this time you should have a firm understanding of what and how to do whatever you need…. Forever! You may choose to continue, but you won’t NEED me. I have clients I’ve trained for over 20 years… there’s value in staying connected to a truth seeker when it comes to your health
Lesson 4-10Depending how much you know, these may be spaced out over time, but every session we will look at “where you are today “. Life happens and our bodies are in a different place every day…. This is tight, that hurts, etc…. We work WITH those day to day changes, we work AROUND those tweaks sometimes, and we can work THROUGH them when appropriate. Progress is a must, but it’s not always a straight line…. The LONG GAME is the way
Lesson 2-3We’ll see where you are today and build on the foundations. Gait, center of gravity up and down, pushing and pulling, and core stability. We’ll add whatever progression is appropriate and keep getting better.

Advanced training plan
Your first lessonMy approach is the same, details matter with athletes even more. I see, evaluate, and can help to improve the patterns for optimal performance.
Lesson 11+The strength phase is probably over by this point and hypertrophy will follow most likely, depending on our timeframe and the season we are training for. Power and power endurance would be the goals of each phase to follow.
Lesson 4-10At this point in our training, we will be shifting, probably from adaptation and general conditioning to a strength phase, heavy loads, low reps, lots of rest, with a goal of motor unit recruitment.
Lesson 2-3We would lay out a plan together for where you are and where you want to be, the number of weeks that would take, and the phases, both training and nutrition in order to get there.

Youth players
Working with kidsKids are people too, so they move in the same ways. Many times they need to connect their brain and body, and they need to be able to handle and control their own body weight in space…. We will work on that first, before we ever pick up any external weight. Being a coach and Referee, I have a lot of experience with kids, and trying to meet them on their level. I’m kind of a kid myself 😂

Working with teenagersTeenagers are developing adults. We will work on balance, coordination of movement, foundational strength from the inside out, and depending how far along into puberty, challenge the body with the appropriate external loads and training protocols.

I have trained with Jim for over 25 years. I am strong, functional, I ride my bike 5000 miles a year, my balance is reasonably good, and I take no medication. I could do some of this on my own, and I sometimes do, but having a plan, and the constant variety of challenge is fun and well worth it.
