Coach Carl Poe's athletic journey began with a passion for multiple sports, which he pursued from youth through high school. His dedication led him to earn a scholarship to play collegiate baseball at UNC-Pembroke. However, during his senior year, an unfortunate hand injury ended his playing career. Determined to continue his path in sports, Carl shifted focus to academics, earning a degree in Physical Education and Coaching before advancing to graduate school at Appalachian State, where he earned a Master's in Exercise Science with a focus on Sports Strength and Conditioning. This transition from competitive baseball to strength and conditioning allowed Carl to dedicate his career to training athletes. With over 20 years of experience, including time at the US Olympic Training Center, Carl has built a legacy of helping athletes achieve their peak performance to compete at the highest level possible .

My training time spent with Coach Poe has dramatically improved/enhanced my play on the ice, physically and mentally. His program design and technique work with me is unlike that of other strength coaches. Finally he truly shows his dedication to me and my sport and health. Even though I am playing my sport away from NC, I will for sure be keeping in touch with Coach and training with him whenever I do travel back home to NC.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonCoach Poe will always begin with Athlete/Player (Sport) Specific Warm-Up-Dynamic Flexibility-Stretching and Warm-Up Movement Pattern Drills or exercises. This plan is Critical to teach all players or individuals to appropriately Prepare your Body and Mind to warm up and stretch and perform Dynamic Drills for either your Skills/Team Practice, Game or Competition or any Strength-Power-Speed Training Session
Lesson 11+With Consistency comes Program Variation Periodization Concepts which simply means The individual is moving away from Beginner and Transitioning to Higher Levels… Individuals will experience changes in program design, exercises, sets and reps and very important the INTENSITY of Training.
Lesson 4-10The Fun Part Begins!!! We are Training Now….Program Design Specific to needs of the Player: taking a lot of needs variables into play with the program design: Component: Strength, Power, Acceleration, Speed, Endurance Capacity, Flexibility/Recovery….Please Note: Coach Poe will began to implement basic concepts of Nutrition for Athlete Development and Performance
Lesson 2-3Next Program Design will Focus on Post Training (Skill…Court or Field or Weight Room Session) Game-Competition Cool-Down, and Stretching with Recovery Strategies. What you need to bringWorkout/Training Attire ie. Comfortable Weather appropriate Shorts or Sweatpants Shirt and very important Training Shoes, Water Bottle or any appropriate Sports Hydration Training Fluid… Coach Poe will notify Athlete if any other specific equipment or gear is needed for the Training Sessions
