Youth players
Working with kidsI focus on making the sessions fun, fast-paced, and easy to understand. I shorten the drills into 5–10 minute blocks, use junior-sized sticks and softer balls, and turn fundamental skills like cradling, passing, and ground balls into games. The goal is to build coordination, confidence, and a love for the sport while keeping them engaged and constantly moving. I also use positive reinforcement and simple language to keep things clear and encouraging.

Working with teenagersI adapt teenage lacrosse lessons by raising the intensity, increasing structure, and focusing more on mechanics and lacrosse IQ. I keep sessions engaging but start holding players more accountable for technique, footwork, and decision-making. Drills become more dynamic with added movement and competition, and I introduce real game situations like 2v1s, transition drills, and shooting under pressure. While fun is still important, the emphasis shifts toward building a strong foundation that prepares them for team play, higher-level competition, and long-term growth in the sport.
