Hi, my name is Yushan, but feel free to call me Susan too! I'm currently a music major student at CCSF, and I've been studying music for 6 years. I also work as a teaching assistant at an after-school program in an elementary school, helping with art enrichment for 3rd-5th grade students. I love working with different students, and I hope I can make music theory feel fun for you and help you enjoy music even more. I will do my best to help you and look forward to meeting with you!

Your first lessonFor the first lesson, I would start by introducing myself to students and getting to know the student so I can learn about their goals and what they want to learn in the lessons. I would also introduce some basic concepts of music theory.
Youth players
Working with kidsWhen teaching kids, I think it’s important to provide a supportive learning environment for kids, as each kid is unique and has their own interests. I would try to tailor my lessons to their interests, encourage their creativity, and help them enjoy music.
Working with teenagersWhen working with teenagers, I will listen to their ideas and respect their perspectives. I also encourage peer learning and help them build social connections while developing their creativity by connecting to their interests. I welcome questions and encourage students to reach out whenever they feel confused or need help during lessons. For students of different ages, I will adjust my teaching approach to meet their needs.
