Sapphire Skye Toth is a composer and musician based in Boston, specializing in orchestral, chamber, and electronic music. With a strong academic background, including a Master’s degree in Arts Administration from Boston University and a Bachelor's Degree in Music Composition, Sapphire brings both practical and theoretical expertise to their teaching. They have been commissioned for works performed at renowned festivals and institutions such as the Del Mar International Composers Symposium and White Snake Projects Inc., and have a deep understanding of contemporary music practices. She is represented by Black Tea Music for sheet music publishing and commissions. Sapphire is passionate about helping students develop their unique voice in music, guiding them through creative and technical challenges to unlock their full potential.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonWe’ll do a diagnostic overview for me to understand your current music theory knowledge and have a discussion to understand what you want to learn, what your goals are and how we can help you get there.
Lesson 11+We’ll move into writing a full piece for the ensemble of your choice!
Lesson 4-10We’ll move into writing longer pieces for solo piano, building on the techniques you’ve learned from your etude studies.
Lesson 2-3We’ll build your composers tool box by having you compose different etudes with your goals in mind. We’ll work together to make your etudes the best they can be and make sure you’re learning from them.
Advanced training plan
Your first lessonWe’ll do a diagnostic overview for me to understand your current music theory knowledge and have a discussion to understand what you want to learn, what your goals are and how we can help you get there.
Lesson 2-3Depending on your level well start composing etudes or continue work on pieces that you’re already writing.
Youth players
Working with teenagersWe work at a pace that works for them, and set the amount of work for outside of lessons to fit their schedules. If they have a music teacher at school, we work together to see how composing can be a part of their extracurricular experience at school too.
What you need to bringTheir laptop, writing utensils, blank sheet music, composing software (MuseScore is free!) and know how to read music
