After playing for over 10 years, I've had many opportunities to coach youth all the way through high school. I've worked each summer as a coach for my local club, working alongside great coaching staff my whole life to coach the younger players. In high school, I ran my own clinics two years in a row for both men and women that led to the beginning of the Del Oro Lacrosse Team in Loomis, CA. As a defender, my coaching specialties include footwork, body positioning, stick skills, field vision, and defending from both the wings and from X. Our first session will focus early on understanding exactly which fundamental areas you need to focus on, then giving precise guidance in those areas. I focus on building a strong foundation, where players can perfect the basics so they can stack more advanced topics as they progress.

He taught our clinics in high school. After the fall clinics I was able to try out for our new team with an understanding of the sport. Would recommend!

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonA quick chat and throw around to review the players goals and where they’d like to improve. Afterwords, a quick transition into addressing our goals, getting to work and being efficient with our time.
Lesson 11+Lessons 11+ should consist of brief review of stick skills and footwork to maintain proficiency. Given those skills are still strong, much of the time can be spent on advanced techniques. We can go over speed drills / workouts, improve the player’s ability to run their team’s specific plans, or show the player what could be to come in their future lacrosse career.
Lesson 4-10Lessons 4-10 maintain progress towards perfecting the basics while moving to more advanced material. Depending on the student’s goals, we can move to higher level lacrosse IQ techniques like different slide packages, playing a 2 man from X, maintaining high side when defending from wing, etc.
Lesson 2-3Lessons two and three build on our first. We continue where we left off, addressing precise improvements in technique. By the end of lesson 3, we should be throwing with better mechanics and have improved our field mobility.

Youth players
Working with kidsAfter first meeting with the parents to lay out the goals of the session, I want to do some fun drills that ultimately keep the energy high while teaching fundamentals. We can practice throwing, play games, and run around all while promoting better skills and a love of the game.

Working with teenagersI’d like to give teenagers some autonomy in their goals for the session. After listening to what they’d like to focus on, we’d start fast to be efficient with our time. We’d do high energy sessions while checking in with the student to make sure we’re still aligned with the session goals.

What you need to bringStudents can bring their sticks, cleats, gloves and a winning attitude

What I can bringI can supply cones, balls and footwork ladder
