Beginner training plan
Your first lessonAs a first lesson with my students I like to ask a lot of questions about what type of music they like and what are their initial goals when learning the instrument. I will also work on determining initial knowledge of instrument. I will have the student hold the guitar and get familiar with the anatomy and help the student memorize what each part of the guitar is functionally for.
Lesson 11+After teaching the basics of guitar playing and improvising and introducing the student to the various worlds of guitar playing and musical genres the student can have the freedom to choose the direction they want to focus more on and specialize themselves to a specific style of music. Deeper knowledge of theory and musical intuition is gained past these lessons
Lesson 4-10These lessons will be having the students dip their toes into theory and how musical language is discuss and expressed. We will go over the major scale and the function of each note in the scale we will address any technical problems the student is having and any concerns the student has about their progress and skill level. We will focus more and more on the building blocks of modern guitar playing such as: improvisation, jazz, and blues
Lesson 2-3The next couple of lessons I will get the student familiar with actually playing the guitar. I will discuss how the guitar is conceptualized in music and its function. We will go over songs student wants to learn and some basic chords to practice. I will then have the student learn strumming patterns and chord changes.

Youth players
Working with kidsKids can be super rewarding to teach but they require a specific approach kids like to have fun and they have a hard time sitting still for a long period of time. So I tend to keep them entertained with snacks and musical games that challenge their musical knowledge or ability on the instrument in an approachable fun way.

Working with teenagersTeenagers crave relatability. I find they’re willing to do the work but they have to have a reason to care about the thing they are doing. I find meeting them at their level and trying to get to the root of why they are playing music and why it motivates them to learn or play is a great way to propel their progress much quicker than just throwing a lesson plan at them

What you need to bringBring own guitar, amplifier if electric, strap.

What I can bringCan provide an acoustic guitar for first few lessons, guitar strap for lessons, can provide a pedalboard for student during lesson that they can experiment with, and can provide picks
