Wow! I am so impressed with my lesson with Riley! When I first signed up for a guitar lesson, I figured I would eventually be able to play simple songs…. I mean, that is the point, but to learn a few riffs on the first lesson?!? How is that even possible! But it was! He even had to teach me how to hold the guitar where to put my fingers and hold the pick. After Riley showed me the basics on holding the guitar, we went into reading the music and what the symbols mean and how to move my fingers. It’s more than you think!
By the time we ended the lesson I was so pumped and excited to learn more and more and to actually play my guitar, not just let it sit in the closet!! I look forward to more lessons and learning even more songs!
If you are considering taking lessons I highly recommend Riley! He breaks it down and makes it feel so easy!! You too can learn to play the guitar in no time!

My 13 year old son has been taking guitar lessons with Riley for more than a year now. The weekly sessions have not only kept my son interested in learning his instrument, but also inspired him to try the bass guitar as well as drums. He seems to be spending a lot more of his free time exploring the different types of music he hears and plays each week with Riley while practicing at home. In addition to being a talented musician, Riley possesses the qualities and traits that make him an enjoyable teacher. His calm and patient demeanor puts students at ease while motivating them to challenge themselves in improve each week. I also appreciate the flexibility he offers with scheduling and his very reasonable rates.

Lessons with Riley are really awesome! I’ve been wanting to learn how to play for years but always felt overwhelmed. He makes learning to play simple to grasp. My favorite part is the jam session after each lesson where he gives you a couple notes that sound good with the song that he plays you get to freestyle play. Ahaha even if you don’t know what you’re doing it feels like you do because each note goes so well with the song. Would 10/10 recommend Riley..definitely happy I found him as a teacher!

When our teen showed interest in guitar and asked for lessons, we jumped at the opportunity. We wanted to find a teacher that offered in-person lessons and had more flexibility than just a typical music school. In just a few weeks my daughter has learned so much! Riley was wonderfully patient and encouraging to my son who was brand new to guitar. The setup for online lessons (12 hours and a time zone away!!) was easy to navigate for my 10yo so I didn’t have to hover over his lesson which made him more relaxed. I definitely feel that his lessons with Riley at the beginning of learning guitar fostered an ongoing interest and has carried over with a local teacher as well!

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonBeginners learn their first 1-3 chords by the end of the first lesson, how to practice learning new chords, basic strumming, and a fun jam at the end.
Lesson 11+From here we will dive into more strum techniques, barre chords, scale patterns and guitar soloing, basic music theory, basic improvisation, and beyond.
Lesson 4-10We will finish the 3 basic songs and continue on to new open chords, different strumming patterns, intermediate songs, basic blues jamming, strum techniques power chords etc.
Lesson 2-3We will continue working through the rest of the 8 essential chords, basic strum pattern, along with how to practice chord switches, strumming in time while switching chords, and begin working on our first of 3 basic songs.
