My journey with music began at the age of 6, joining a children's choir. By the age of 8, I delved into piano lessons, the violin at 9 and the trombone at 10. After a diverse exploration of instruments, I now stand proficient on the piano, electric/acoustic bass, and guitar.
Post my service in the U.S. Army, I returned to school as a music/audio production major, setting the stage for a multifaceted career. Beginning my teaching odyssey at Milestones in Music, I honed my skills as an independent contractor, refining my curriculum through my affiliation with the National Association for Music Education (NAfME).
As a former student member of the Grammy U Recording Academy, I've had the privilege of working with and learning from many musicians. I lead the band at Montco Bible Fellowship and serve as a recording, mixing/mastering, and live FOH engineer. Additionally, my role as a music producer spans collaborations with local and out-of-state artists. My love for learning extends to exploring new instruments and music technologies, and I am dedicated to passing on this love for music to the next generation. Join me on this harmonious journey where passion and knowledge coexist seamlessly!

The reason he is an excellent instructor is because his philosophy lies in teaching the way he wishes he would have been taught. Looking back at the way he came to understand theory, he has come with a technique that builds on fundamentals and makes the later lessons click and fall right in to place. For this reason, I have him down in my contacts as Mr. Miyagi.

Mr Jon has been teaching our son piano for a few years. Our favorite thing is that he combines both classical and jazz training side by side. I played piano through high school and I wish I had the training in jazz that my son is getting! It really bolsters his understanding of musical theory much more than just filling out a theory book.

This 5 star review is long overdue. My daughter has been taking piano lessons from Jonathan for 2+ years, and we couldn’t be happier. Jonathan is an extremely knowledgeable musician, and his approach is a great mix of instruction, patience, and fun. It’s been an overwhelmingly positive experience.

My son was 6 years old when he started piano with Jon. Jon has encouraged him, motivated him and taught him everything he knows. My son really enjoys piano and has learned so much from Jon in a few short months. I highly recommend him as a piano teacher.

Jonathan is an incredible teacher and I feel lucky that he teaches in my area. Both my daughter and I are taking piano lessons with him. If I learned piano like he teaches when I was younger then I doubt I would have ever quit as a teenager.

What you need to bringI provide lesson books and other learning materials, but expect to be reimbursed. I expect the student to have their own instrument/equipment. Piano students are required to have a piano or a keyboard with 88 weighted keys (hammer-action) to practice on, a piano bench and a pedal. Guitar/bass students must have an acoustic/electric guitar/bass with a strap or footstool, pick, and cable and amplifier if applicable!
What I can bringIn my studio I have a digital piano, amps, a music stand that can be used for the lesson. It is still important to have your own gear so you can practice during the week!
