Beginner training plan
Your first lessonWe will take a look at the parts of the guitar, the proper names of the strings and notes. We will learn our first two chords and the first three notes on the first string.
Lesson 2-3Learning our first familiar songs! On the second lesson, we will learn two new chords, we will review all of the previous chords in notes, and we will add three more notes from the second string.
Lesson 4-10By the fourth lesson, we will be reading on the first four strings, learning familiar melodies and we will know eight chords total. We will have begun connecting the chords by their common shapes and common fingers, a unique feature of my method. We will also learn the blues in lesson five. By the end of lesson 8 we will know all the primary chords in 1st position and cover bar chords!
Lesson 11+By the time we get to lesson 11, we will be playing full-fledged chord progressions, learning songs, we will be able to read music on all six strings, and we will have learned how to improvise over a beginners blues progression, including the turnaround figures

Advanced training plan
Your first lessonWe will assess the cord vocabulary, neck, mechanics, i.e. arpeggios, and scales, and reading abilities. Then we will create a curriculum.
Lesson 2-3We will follow through on the curriculum, which will include scales, chords, improvisation techniques, reading music on the guitar, etc.
Lesson 4-10By this time we will add transcribing to the curriculum, and develop skills in improvising as well as develop more repertoire
Lesson 11+More tunes, more advanced reading and improvisation techniques

Youth players
Working with kidsI adjust the style of teaching and use the book that I wrote for kids which has larger print and cartoon characters

I had the pleasure of working with Harold for several years. From day, one I was blown away with his musical talent. Whether he was playing an intricate guitar riff, or using his creativity and vast musical knowledge to write an original piece, he never disappointed. As I got to know him, I quickly realized that he was one of the most musically talented people I knew. However, what makes Harold truly special is his heart. Harold is a natural servant leader. He has a gift for engaging with an empowering people. he sees potential in everyone and is ready to give himself to help them achieve and grow. If you get the chance to engage with Harold in any capacity, I encourage you to do so. The experience will enrich your life.

Among the handful of musical influences in my life, Harold Greene has been an inspiration and motivation for me to this day. I was fortunate enough to work with Harold in college, he advanced my musicianship and professionalism to a new level. On top of all of that, he was and is a great person. He changed my life for the better and I will always be in debt to him for that.

I highly recommend Harold Greene as a guitar instructor for students of any level whether you are just starting out or you want to really deepen your knowledge of the guitar. He is a great teacher who will meet you where you are at and help you get where you eventually want to go. Not only does he have a great breadth of knowledge in terms of style, mechanics, music theory, Harold's also just an extremely warm and patient teacher. He's helped me a lot in terms of developing my understanding of the fretboard, of music theory in relation to jazz, of chord voicings; and I think he's a wonderful resource for anyone that wants to become a better guitarist.

Having studied guitar at several universities with multiple instructors. Harold’s level of mastery on the instrument, as well as his teaching methods, are as good (and in my opinion better) than some of the education I received at the college level. Plus, he’s a great guy and fun to be around! Would highly recommend

Excellent teacher. Very knowledgeable and to the point. He is able to approach players on varying levels of experience with ease. He's also a fantastic musician as evidenced by his playing, arranging and conducting skills. Very humble.

Harold skillfully took me as I was and directed me to a greater understanding of music, step by step. It goes beyond that- he helped set me on a path to directing my own learning.
