Tim is a great teacher, soft-spoken and easy going. He’s recognizing your personal abilities and adapting the teaching accordingly. His way of teaching is pleasant and helpful. Very practical and not theoretical tips. Highly recommended!

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonGet to know them and ask what their goals for golf are. If they don't have any specific goals, I would start with the fundamentals. Intro to Golf + Putting Basics Grip, alignment, posture Learn straight-line putting from 3–6 ft Drill: "Gate Drill" for straight putts 43% of strokes come from putting
Lesson 11+Short game mastery and specialty shots Reading the green and understanding breaks on putts Bunker shots Flop shots and high chips over bushes, trees, etc. Up and down challenge
Lesson 4-10Full swing basics and flight control of the ball Hitting all your clubs and how feet stance changes Driver set up and contact Tee height Tempo and balance
Lesson 2-3Lesson 2 Distance Control in Putting Short vs long putts Drill: "Ladder Drill" for feel and pace Lesson 3 Chipping Basics (Bump & Run) Club selection (wedge, 9-iron) Setup and motion for chips Drill: Land-it-on-the-towel Intro to full swing

Advanced training plan
Your first lessonThe goal is to assess, build trust, and identify key improvement areas without overwhelming the player. What are your current strengths and weaknesses? What’s your handicap or average score? What are your short- and long-term golf goals? (e.g., breaking 70, tournament prep, shot shaping) Any physical limitations or injury history? Introduce one or two drills that address their biggest need Let them feel the difference, not just hear it

Youth players
Working with kidsFor younger kids, I focus most of the lesson time around the putting and chipping green. That’s where they can have the most fun, see quick success, and build confidence. It also teaches them important skills like aim, feel, and control—without the frustration of full swings. My goal is to help them enjoy the game, stay active, and build a strong foundation, all while keeping things safe and age-appropriate. Once they’re ready, we’ll gradually introduce longer shots and the full swing.

Working with teenagersWhen I work with teenagers, I adapt my golf lessons to match their unique stage of development—physically, mentally, and emotionally. I focus on making the game fun and engaging while teaching solid fundamentals. Teens need a balance of structure and freedom, so I tailor each session to their learning style, attention span, and personal goals. I also use encouragement and simple, clear feedback to build confidence—especially important during a stage of life when many kids are still figuring out who they are. I help them stay motivated by setting achievable goals and tracking their progress. And since golf is such a mental game, we also work on focus, patience, and handling pressure in a way that carries over into other parts of life.

About your golf coach

My name is Tim Chamberlain, and I've been golfing for over 30 years. The game has been a lifelong source of joy, challenge, and connection for me. In 2019, I lost my youngest brother, a talented PGA professional. His legacy and love for the game continue to inspire everything I do. That loss deepened my desire to help others not just play golf, but truly enjoy it—no matter their skill level. At The Swing Lab, I combine time-tested fundamentals with a personalized, practical approach. Whether you're a beginner trying to make clean contact or a seasoned player looking to shave strokes, you’ll get tailored coaching that leads to real, lasting progress.
