Beginner training plan
Your first lessonThe first lesson is to learn about the student’s learning style and to develop goals and a plan to accomplish their goals. This is important in order to create accountability for both student and coach.
Lesson 11+Goals at this stage tend to revolve around fine tuning and maintaining healthy habits. Full education is usually reached which helps to self-identify problems and using knowledge to correct them.
Lesson 4-10The relationship between coach and student should start to feel more like a partnership. Goals should begin to feel closer and more attainable. New goals tend to be introduced as progress continues overall.
Lesson 2-3Lessons will become more and more specific, directly tied to goals and building off each lesson. Training aides and drills will begin to be used if necessary.
Advanced training plan
Your first lessonIdentify learning style, perceived limitations and shortcomings. Generate goals and a plan. Hold each other accountable for results.
Lesson 11+This is the maintenance stage. Most aspects are understood and only require fine-tuning. Small resets tend to happen but most shortcomings come with understanding of why and how to fix them.
Lesson 4-10Routine and comfortability start to settle in. Results are more pronounced and goals tend to change or shift.
Lesson 2-3Training aids can be added if necessary. Still in the listening and learning stage for both coach and student. Adapting to different routes to find what clicks.
Youth players
Working with kidsMy job is for them to answer this question “Did you have fun?” If the answer is “Yes!”, then so much was already accomplished. My goal with kids is to introduce them to everything golf can provide which is an activity they can play their entire life, accountability, life skills, social skills, integrity, sportsmanship and most importantly fun. If their desire is to improve, even better. Basic fundamentals is where we begin to build healthy habits as their bodies grow and develop.
Working with teenagersTeenagers will pursue aspects of life that give them joy. My job is to introduce them to everything golf can provide which is an activity they can play their entire life, accountability, life skills, social skills, integrity, sportsmanship and most importantly fun. If their desire is to improve, even better. Basic fundamentals are introduced while accounting for their individual physical development. Teenagers are more focused on strength and power, skill refinement and competition. I try to harbor their strategic thinking and pressure management.
What you need to bringStudents must bring their own golf clubs.
What I can bringAfter first lesson, I will tailor future training aids to the student’s respective needs. Examples include: putting mirror, putting track, alignment rods, weighted clubs, weighted golf balls, ropes and targets, stance board, transition aide, rhythm aide, and more!
