About your golf coach

Richard Parrott is a Class A Member of the PGA of America with over 25 years of experience teaching the game of golf to people of all ages and abilities. Richard began his PGA career in Florida, and then spent time working at high-end country clubs in Virginia and New York. Richard’s approach to teaching golf can be summed up in one word…Personal. Richard’s golf philosophy is based on his belief that the ā€œone size fits allā€ method to teaching the golf swing marginalizes the individual. Richard sees everyone as unique, and that everyone deserves critical evaluation based on their particular physical parameters, level of dexterity and mobility, and even thought process. If you are looking to educate yourself on the fundamentals of golf so that you will be better equipped to grow your own game, book now!

Richard Parrott golf instructor review "I've been working with Richard for about 2 months now, and he's really helped me improve my approach to the game and gotten me excited about playing and trying my improved techniques on the course. One of the best this is that Richard doesn't take a cookie cutter approach and just use the same "fixes" for each person, instead really looking at your swing and just making the right corrections to it so you can play your game, but optimally. Now I'm striking the ball more purely and consistently, losing fewer balls, and am on the way to lowering my scores."

How’s this sound? Richard’s years of experience teaching golf was apparent to me after just a few minutes of meeting him. And after spending more time with him, I realized that he’s struck a delicate balance between teaching the ā€œfeelā€ or instinctual side of golf and his deep understanding of the technical aspects of the swing. I always feel more confident in my game and better equipped mentally after each session with him.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonThe first lesson is all about information gathering. I never try to influence someone on their swing until I have enough time to analyze their mechanics combined with what they are trying to accomplish. In my opinion, understanding what the student wants to do, influence the mechanics and the way I will instruct them. Everyone is unique, I treat them that way. Unless it is a one off, and the student needs a quick fix for a golf out they are playing in the next day. If that is the case, I do provide emergency fix services.
Lesson 11+After 11 sessions, a beginner will be equipped to self-diagnose their issues. They will have absorbed enough knowledge about their own swing mechanics and their weaknesses. They will also have the ability to control their emotions better due to an understanding of the nature of the game verses just hitting balls. They will know that poor shits happen, they happen to everyone, and they won’t be caught up trying to figure out why, because the routine I have instilled in them will allow them to reset, let go of the past, and focus on executing their next move.
Lesson 4-10Lessons 6-8 are usually the toughest because the beginner now knows what they are capable of and expects it. However, without the experience and the understanding of the game yet, it can be very frustrating to them. That’s why I say I coach them through this point, not necessarily teach them.
Lesson 2-3A beginner taking their 2nd and 3rd lesson should expect massive growth. This is the exciting time for a beginner. Usually around the 6th or 7th lesson there will be some frustration because they will have gained more knowledge than they can really absorb. It’s a process and the most important thing is that I am there to guide them through the process of what to expect on their journey.
