We will conduct an OPTIONAL Physical Assessment designed by the Titleist Performance Institute to determine the golf capabilities and limitations of the playerβs body. Again this is optional and not required, however highly recommended for optimal results. The Physical assessment consist of doing several golf positions and movements which will identify the playerβs physical attributes and limitations. The amount for the TPI Physical Assessment is an additional $100 to the price of the first lesson. Again, this is OPTIONAL. We will then come to an understanding of the Playerβs goals in order to develop a specific training program. An understanding of basic golf terms, rules, and etiquette will be encompassed throughout the lessons. I like to begin Golf from the putter going upwards in the bag. We will work on establishing a proper set up routine, the putting grip, style of putt, putting arch, and speed specific for the golfer. The goal of the day is to be able to putt the golf ball effectively from 7 feet and in. By the end of the lesson the student will be able to putt the ball successfully and consistently from outwards of 1,3,5,and 7 feet.
PLAYERS CHOICE!! As a reward for your hard work and commitment what we do in the last lesson is 100% up to you. We can work on the things you love doing the most or we can work on things you wish we improve together. We will then end the lesson with playing a few holes of golf so we may enjoy your newly learned game together!!
LESSON 4: As always we will spend 5 minutes going over the previous lessons to see how much was practiced on and absorbed by the student. Immediately after we will begin to learn to putt from 20- 50 feet also known as Lag Putting. Upon successfully performing several lag putts we will begin to pitch again. Once the student has become accustomed to the process we will start to move back from 100 yards and out which will bring the 9 and 8 iron in to play. Expected distances to be hit: 100- 130 yards. The remainder of the lesson will be exactly like the previous lesson with shots becoming farther and farther away from the green with the daily goal of landing one ball on the green and sink a putt.
LESSON 5: Once again we will begin with a review of all lessons so far to see how much of the lessons are being practiced on and absorbed by the student. Immediately after we will begin to putt from 1-50 feet. After successfully putting we will move in to the 7 iron and 6 iron. Expected distances to be hit: 130-160 yards. The remainder of the lesson will be exactly like the previous lesson. We will attack the green from farther and farther out with the goal of landing one ball on the green. Should the player miss they will use the chip shot they have previously learned to get in to putting position. The player will putt the ball in the hole to finish. The player will repeat this until the end of the lesson.
LESSON 6: As per tradition we will begin the lesson with a review of all the previous lessons to see how much of the lessons were worked on and absorbed by the student. We will immediately begin to work on any problems or questions the student may have since the beginning of their instruction. From then we will go on to the 5 iron and 4 iron. Expected distances to be hit: 150 yards to 180 yards. We will then discuss the middle long shot in golf and what to do when this occurs out on the course. The student will be moved once again further back from the green with the goal to land one ball on the green. Should the student miss they will use the chipping and putting methods to get the ball in the hole.
LESSON 7: Hybrids and Fairway woods. These clubs are used to try and land the ball on the green from much longer distances. Typically from 180 yards to 230 yards. The 3 and 5 wood as well as all hybrids clubs will be used. We will then discuss the difference between a middle long shot to a long distance shot. Also we will the discuss the differences between fairway woods and hybrids and which one would be best for your game. Typically these shots are very far away from the green however, yet still close enough to land the ball on the green if done successfully. Should the golfer miss their shot they have all of the shots from the previous lessons to get them to the green and in putting position. We will move farther and farther away until the student can no long reach the green to establish distances. We will finish the lesson by hitting at the green from the farthest distance possible for the player. They player will chip the ball on the green should they miss with previously learned shots to get the ball in to putting position.
LESSON 8: The moment you have finally been waiting for; THE DRIVER. We will for good measure go over all over the previous lessons to track the progress of the student. We warm up the body from putting, to chipping, to pitching, to full swings with clubs all the way up to your Driver. By that time all of the golf muscles will be ready and warmed up to handle the Driver. We will establish what grip the player is to use, their swing style, natural shot shape, and initial distance. From there we will work the Driver until the lesson is over. The student will drive the on the range for short while to begin to learn their swing. The remainder of the lesson will be exactly like the previous ones. Use the driver to put the ball in to play, then use all previously learned shots to get the ball on the green and in to the hole. We will finish by giving the player their shot book which has all of the notes I have taken on them since the first lesson. They can now use this as their own customized personal golf guide should I be unavailable or when your are out to golf.
LESSON 9: Specialty shots. We will work on shots from the sand bunkers both green and fairway play and how to set up to hit them. Next we will move in to escape shots such as when you hit your ball in to the trees, but you can still hit the ball back in to play to continue the hole. We will go over situations in the rough and how to escape tall grass. These are the main shots a golfer will need to learn to hit should they miss their target and need to safely recover. We will then get in to these situations on the course and try to get the ball on the green and putt the ball in the hole.
LESSON 10: The Combine. A combine is a test in golf used to determine which shots the player hits the best and which shots need the most improvement. I will pick shots for you to hit with clubs I choose at random. This will determine how well you perform against the random clubs one will pull from their bag on a hole of golf. We will establish your best and worst shots so we know what works and what doesnβt. After the combine and we collect the data needed to calculate what kind of player you are. Finally we will go and play serval holes of golf as I caddy for you each shot of the way.
LESSON 2: We will review the first lesson for 5 minutes to see how much the first lesson was practiced on and absorbed by the student. Immediately after we will begin to learn to Chip. We will discuss the importance of this particular shot, and when to properly use it. Chip shots are for short distances typically but not limited to around the green. Expected distances to be hit: 1-30 yards. This is a hybrid lesson which combines the previous putting one has learned paired with chipping. This will simulate the final part of a hole of golf; A chip and a putt. We move on with the lesson by adding distance to the players putting abilities: 7- 20 feet. Once the player can successfully chip from 30 yards and in they will chip the ball on to the green and putt the ball in to the hole. A combination of the first two lessons.
LESSON 3: We will review the second lesson for 5 minutes to see how much was practiced on and absorbed by the student. Immediately after we will begin to learn how to Pitch. We will discuss the importance of this particular shot, and when to properly use it. Pitch shots are for short to mid range distances when the ball is too far away from the green for a chip shot to be effective. Expected distances to be hit: 30-100 yards. The goal of the day is landing one ball on the green then putt the ball in to the hole. This will simulate when the player is in scoring position on the fairway of a hole of golf. Should the player miss the green they will use the chip shot they previously learned to get the ball closest to the hole as possible for the easiest putt. Player will then putt the ball in to the hole. We will chip, pitch, and putt the remainder of the lesson working on and addressing any issues or questions the player may have.
We will discuss what successes the player has on the course and what causes them to struggle. Next we will discuss goals the players wishes to achieve. This is done by establishing what the player wants to see from themselves out on the course both shot wise AND mental wise. After the discussion we will conduct a combine which is a test in golf used to determine a players better shots and what shots they struggle with. We will then tailor the focus of the training programβs contents based off the results of the combine as well as the studentβs feedback.
We will finish with a combine again to see the ultimate state of improvements. Afterwards we will go play 9 holes of golf to see how the new changes have perform on the course.
Set up new challenges congruent to the players progress trends and track their progress in order to determine which further corrections need to be made.
These lessons will consist of specific drills and exercises that will promote the changes you wish to see on the course.
