About your golf coach

My name is James Houston, I’m a scratch golfer (0.0 handicap) based in the South Bay. I played competitively at Mira Costa High School and later with the University of Oregon Men's Club Golf Team. I specialize in the short game, with a focus on putting and chipping. Many golfers spend a lot of time on the driving range, but a large part of the game happens around the green. I enjoy helping players spend more focused time developing feel and confidence in those areas. My coaching philosophy is simple: golf is not a one-size-fits-all game. Every golfer has a unique game, feel, and set of strengths. I believe there are multiple ways to approach any challenge in golf, and my goal is to help you find the solution that fits your style of play. I work with golfers of all skill levels, whether you’re just getting started or looking to spend more time refining your short game.

I cannot recommend these lessons enough! I came in struggling with my short game and honestly dreading anything inside 50 yards. After just one chipping and putting lesson, I walked away with a completely new perspective and the tools to actually improve. The alignment tips alone were a game changer for my putting. I was amazed at how small adjustments to my setup made such a big difference in how consistently I was hitting my line. My chipping also improved dramatically, and I finally feel confident getting up and down around the green. I went out the very next day and shot my best round in years. If you are serious about lowering your scores, stop wasting time and book a lesson. Best investment I have made in my golf game by far!
