Introduction & Setup Basics
Objective: Build comfort with the golf environment and develop a solid foundation.
Focus Areas:
• Introduction to equipment: clubs, grip types, tee, and ball positions
• Golf etiquette & safety on the range/course
• Posture, stance, and alignment basics
• Grip fundamentals (neutral grip focus)
• Short swings with wedges (half swings for contact)
• Basic putting stroke introduction (distance control drill)
Drills:
• “Feet together” half-swing contact drill
• Gate putting drill (two tees around putter head)
Course Strategy & Game Management
Objective: Transition from range to course play and performance mindset.
Focus Areas:
• Course management & shot planning
• Club selection & reading lies
• Managing nerves and pace of play
• Recovery shots and troubleshooting (hook/slice correction)
• Scoring mindset and confidence routines
• Continued short game improvement (up-and-down challenges)
Drills:
• Playing lessons on course
• Scoring games (up-and-down challenge, par 18 short game)
• Visualization and target focus drills
Skill Development & Consistency
Objective: Apply fundamentals to various clubs and shots, develop control and consistency.
Focus Areas:
• Full swing mechanics with irons
• Proper sequencing: lower body → upper body → arms → club
• Ball striking (impact position and follow-through)
• Intro to woods/hybrids and driver setup
• Bunker basics (Lesson 8+)
• Pitching and distance wedges
• On-course simulation: shot selection, pre-shot routine, and tempo
• Mental focus and consistency
Drills:
• Alignment stick practice (direction & club path)
• Impact bag or tee drill for centered contact
• “9 o’clock to 3 o’clock” drill for tempo
• Ladder pitching for distance control
• 3-hole practice round (Lesson 9–10)
Building the Swing Foundation
Objective: Learn proper body motion, balance, and consistent contact.
Focus Areas:
• Review grip, posture, and stance
• Understanding the swing plane and takeaway
• Weight shift and rotation (hips & shoulders)
• Connection between arms and body (one-piece takeaway)
• Introduce chipping technique (bump and run)
• Continue putting with focus on aim and routine
Drills:
• Towel under arms drill (for connected swing)
• Feet-together drill for balance
• Chip ladder drill (distance control)
