About your golf coach
Hi! My name is Christian Heisler-Cruz, or C for short. When I was about 4 years old, my dad put a club in my hand and took me to his favorite municipal course in my hometown of Topeka, Kansas to play a few holes. That day was the day I fell in love with this beautiful game. My dad was my first instructor and he always made sure I had fun more than anything else. That is an approach that I really appreciate and one I want to make sure I carry over with my role as an instructor. When we merge enjoyment and improvement, I believe that is when we can truly love it. Golf was and still is my favorite activity that I share with my dad, and I am hoping it is an activity I can enjoy with all my students as well! Christian's lesson was quite encouraging, especially because he was really friendly and easy to understand. Though I still need some work on my irons and driver, I felt like I picked up useful tips that might help in the long run. Still, I think with a bit more practice, I could see real improvement on the course. If you're looking for a relaxed but helpful lesson, Christian's approach might be worth a try.

Christian's relaxed and easy-going personality made the lesson and atmosphere comfortable, I appreciated how I could ask questions without hesitation. The positive feedback on the good things I did and small swing adjustments really helped me see progress. He adjusted his lesson as he got to know me a little more, moving up the pace of I did well and slowing down for when I struggled on adjustments. You can tell he's played all his life and is a natural at golf. Looking forward to having more lessons with him because I feel like I'll improve with his guidance. Definitely like his teaching style and his positive attitude.

Christian's lesson was quite helpful. I liked how we tried different approaches to work toward my goal. Though I still need to build better ball striking for my mid to long irons, I feel like I gained useful insight into my swing. Interestingly, his focus on varied techniques gave me a fresh perspective, and I think that could really pay off with practice. Still, there's room for improvement, but I’m optimistic about trying Christian again.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonMy approach to first lessons is all about getting to know the person, their experience, and their goals as a golfer. I start by establishing a fun, collaborative environment, and letting them know that our lesson is a joint effort. Only when the student feels comfortable do we then going over, or review the fundamentals of the golf swing: grip, posture, alignment, ball position. Your swing is like your thumbprint, unique to you, so my approach will always include YOU every step of our journey.
Lesson 11+If we get to more than 11 lessons, you are my MVP :) I hope we get there and see far we can go!
Lesson 4-10Around the 4th lesson we will be at a point where the plans revolve around our unique goals and growth. Usually I try to have the students work on their own, play a few times then come back and see where their game is at. From there we can reevaluate our plan or keep moving forward with topics like short game, approach, long irons, improving accuracy vs distance, etc…
Lesson 2-3I’d be honored to have the students come back for more lessons! I’m invested in your game from the first lesson, but the 2nd and 3rd is where it can get really fun! After reviewing the fundamentals, we can tailor the next lessons to our set goals. Making sure we understand those will guide our next lessons. Generally the next few lessons will be with irons or short game where we review topics like the takeaway, weight vs pressure, and focusing on ball first contact. At the end of each lesson I always want to give the students drills that will help them achieve their own goals. Seeing students improve genuinely gives me life :)
