Although Chesley (Ches) was born in Dallas, his devotion to golf was sparked during his childhood while living in Austin. His first job working the driving range at Morris Williams Municipal Golf Course offered the additional bonus of spending time with his grandfather, who also worked there under local legend, Head Pro, and Coach George Hannon. Ches honed his golf skills first on the Westwood High School golf team in Austin, then later competed for the Lake Highlands High School golf team in Dallas. After completing his degree in TV/Radio (minor in Economics) at Southern Methodist University, the lure of Austin called again, and he began a 17-year career at Barton Creek Resort & Club. Beginning at Barton Creek Lakeside in September 1999, Ches worked his way up from Guest Services to Class A PGA Head Golf Professional over all four Barton Creek golf operations (PGA Certification, PGA GPTP/PGM, Port Saint Lucie, FL, 2000 β 2006). In 2004 he was certified through the Chuck Cook Golf Academy in both the teacher training and club fitting programs. Over the years his natural talents in building relationships and high-end customer service were successfully applied to supporting 1200 active golf members. He also developed, marketed, and executed a rigorous 35+ member tournaments a year. Over the years Ches still found time to compete in over 50 STPGA golf tournaments, achieving multiple team and pro/am wins. He also served as Volunteer Chair for the Canadian Tour events held in Austin from 2004-2006.
