Beginner training plan
Your first lessonThe first lesson is seeing the students swing, and picking out the most critical part of their swing that needs to be fixed. I feel that is important to give the student one tip and see how many other parts of the swing fall in line after that.
Lesson 2-3For a beginner the 2nd and 3rd lesson depending on how much the student has practiced what I’ve taught them after lesson 1 they should see some big improvements. Should be moving along to another mechanic of the swing.
Lesson 4-10Should be moving on to longer clubs, or even the green and improving putting and chipping. By lesson #10 through my experience of coaching I’ve had students pick up a club for the first time and break 50 in 9 holes by the end of the year. I think by 10 every facet of the game will be covered.
Lesson 11+From here on we are probably correcting any new bad habits that have been developed. Golf is a game where swing thoughts leave us or don’t work anymore, and tinkering is happening with our golf swings. These lessons are about maintaining what we’ve got, while at the same time learning more about the very detailed parts of golf. At this point in time the student should have very good mechanics when it comes to driving the ball, iron, wedge, and putting. Working the ball with the same flight and draw or fade consistently. A repeatable motion in all facets of the game.
