We spend the first 30 min getting to know each other, discussing your personal language goals and building your confidence!
For the second half of the hour, we dive straight into unit 0 of the Adomania A1 curriculum to demystify the language. My favorite first day drill is a « Cognates Hunt ».
I show you a list of French words, and you’ll quickly realize you already understand most of them. The goal is to reassure you that you already know a lot of French without realizing it!
By the end of this first session, you will master basic classroom commands, number 0-10, and days of the week allowing you to partially state the date (e.g. Lundi 2) right away.
We moved directly into unit 1, which consists of three structured lessons (typically taking 1 to 2 hours each). Our core focus is here is the “identity blueprint” drill. Through interactive dialogue exercises you will master as a French alphabet and learn exactly how to formally and informally introduce yourself and others. We pace this strictly around your comfort level, ensuring you finish your first weeks with the confidence to exchange basic personal information.
Over these sessions, we systematically dive into the core of the Adomania A1 curriculum, which features 8 comprehensive units (3 lessons per unit). A favorite drill here is the “grammar anchor”. Because a solid foundation is key, if a complex structural concept like verb conjugations or gender agreement gives you a hard time, we pause and spend up to 3 hours anchoring it down with custom exercises until it clicks.
By lesson 10, you can expect a steady accumulation of everyday vocabulary, basic conversational loops, and a strong structural rhythm.
Because Adomania A1 is a rich, full-year curriculum, our remaining lessons are where real transformation happens. We move sequentially through the remaining units, transitioning from isolated phrases to fluid situational language building. We use immersive “real word simulation” drills, introducing past and future tenses, reading comprehension and natural accent reduction.
Over a course of the year, you will work through all 8 units of the textbook steadily building the complete structural and conversational autonomy needed to confidently exit the beginner level.
We spend the first part of the lesson discussing your personal learning history, motivation, and goals. To ensure we target your exact needs, I will evaluate your skills using the CECRL framework to see if you fall into the B (independent) or C (proficient) level.
From there, we immediately identify your priorities, whether you want to bridge gaps from self learning, master complex grammar, or focus entirely on high level conversation.
We begin building your highly customized learning track based on your placement. My favorite drill for this stage is a fluency diagnostic. We dive into organic conversations about your work, vacation plans or hobbies, allowing me to isolate specific vocabulary, gaps or recurring grammatical habits. You can expect lessons built around real word materials, ensuring you are learning relevant, sophisticated language from day one.
Over these sessions, we systematically expand your linguistic range and nuance. A core drill here is a “current events breakdown”. We use daily French news, media articles, and culture as our textbook, diving deep into advance idiomatic expressions, complex sentence structures, and fluid debate.
If you are a self learner needing a refresh, this is where we seamlessly weave in advanced grammar mechanics without slowing down your conversational momentum.
Our remaining lessons focus on true conversational autonomy and precision. We shift into immersive “deep dive simulations”, mastering a specific jargon of your professional field or personal interests so you can discuss complex topics effortlessly.
Whether we are practicing accent reduction, preparing for official B2/C1 examinations, or refining your spontaneous expression, these lessons provide the continuous high level maintenance needed to speak French like a native.
