About your football coach
I am Weston Schwesinger. I am 19 years old, and although I do not have the most coaching experience, I have extensive football experience. I have played, watched, and learned football for over 15 years. I played 4 years of varsity football at Oaks Christian High School and went to play DI at Austin Peay State University as a wide receiver. I specialize in route running, footwork, and reading and adjusting to defensive keys. I have coached all ages from Youth summer camps to high school athletes.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonStart with a 10-15 minute dynamic warmup, including wide receiver specific warm up drills. Then do footwork and catching drills to assess the athletes current skill level. I will then determine which part of the athletes game is the most important to improve immediately. This will often be quickness and coordination between hands, feet and hips.
Lesson 11+After 10 sessions, training will focus on continuing to improve on the foundation that the athlete has already built. They will continue to improve their skills and their knowledge of the game. They will also learn more complex and difficult routes.
Lesson 4-10In their fourth through tenth session, athletes will learn how to run routes efficiently and effectively. They will begin to learn to adjust their routes based on the personnel, type, and technique of the defense they would be facing. They will start to learn how to read a defense and find the weakness in different types of defenses.
Lesson 2-3By the third lesson, a beginner should expect to start learning how to run specific routes well. They will also start to learn how perform different types of catches. We will still work on fundamentals, but will also begin to use them practically.
Advanced training plan
Your first lessonAny athletes first lesson will be mostly focused on assessment of their current skill level and skill set, as well as their understanding of football. Once I feel I can properly judge an athletes strengths and weaknesses I will develop a plan tailored to each individual.
Youth players
Working with kidsI have spent the most time coaching children aged 7-13. I have learned that for youth athletes, it is just as important to foster a love for the sport as it is to improve their skill. For youth athletes I adjust drills and lesson plans to focus more on the fun parts of practice. I also know that youth athletes have more fun with their friends so I am open to doing group sessions so a child can come with some of their friends who also want to improve.
Working with teenagersWith teenagers, I have the philosophy that they will get out of their training whatever they put into it. I firmly believe that I have the knowledge and skills to help a teen athlete to become an elite wide receiver, but they have to be fully bought in. With teenagers, drills will be difficult and tiring, but they all have a purpose. The drills will be tailored to an individual athletes skill set. I will also strive to teach them how to read defenses and defenders to make them both physically and mentally the best they can be on the field.
