About your football coach

I have over 30 years of professional quarterback training to individuals, teams and leagues, at the youth, scholastic, collegiate, semipro and professional levels. My QBs have played at all levels, of collegiate and professional football. I endeavor to help players increase their football IQ, and maximize their offensive potential at their current level. I also emphasize preparing players to excel at their next level. As players progress in their development, training incorporates more advanced skills, including offensive and defensive concepts, quarterback progressions and reads, film study techniques and may utilize virtual training and evaluation sessions. Training is also tailored to the specifics of the offense that you, or your athlete, will run with their current team. I thank you in advance for your consideration. I look forward to training you, or your athlete, to achieve consistent, intelligent, football performance at the quarterback position. Coach Deano

Beginner training plan
Your first trainingFirst Lesson is an evaluation lesson. We will complete basic QB assessments in three primary categories: 1- static throwing mechanics 2- moving throwing mechanics 3- offensive and defensive knowledge in general, and specifically for the team you will play for.
Training 2-3I will customize these sessions to meet your, or your athletes, specific needs as identified in the first lesson. So, lessons 2 and 3 will be centered around more thorough evaluation and training techniques designed to embolden performance in areas in need of improvement. We will also reinforce areas where you, or your athlete excel and begin work on understanding basic defensive coverages and offensive passing concepts.
Training 4-10Lessons 4-10 are where much growth will take place. Incorporating various training techniques and passing concepts, these lessons will start to apply what we are learning, to the specific style of offense that you, or your athlete, will be responsible for running for their team, from the QB position. If you or your athlete have access to your playbook, I encourage you to bring it to the training sessions. This will allow us to communicate effectively in the language of your program.
Training 11+Complete mastery of their offense, as well as general offensive pass and run strategies, against various defensive alignments that they may face. This mastery, and the confidence that is developed in the process, is a key part of getting you, or your athlete prepared to excel at the next level of play.

Advanced training plan
Your first trainingFirst lessons at any level, begin with a thorough evaluation of your, or your athletes specific needs, throwing mechanics, body awareness, and ability to throw from different platforms. That is, static throws, throwing on the move, throwing on the run, throwing from under center, throwing from shotgun l, pocket presence and decision making.
Training 2-3Lessons 2 & 3, get more detailed training focused on strengthening any uncovered challenges revealed in lesson 1. The mental component of playing QB is also brought to bear in these lessons through various methods to challenge you or your athlete’s ability to focus on details while making good football decisions.
Training 4-10Lessons 4-10 are designed specifically to incorporate learning techniques from lessons 3 and 4, into specific training sessions designed around your, or your athlete’s current offensive systems. These sessions build unshakable confidence and knowledge on how to effectively run your, or your athlete’s offense at a high football IQ level.
Training 11+Lessons 11 and beyond, create unlimited quarterback growth opportunities for you, or your athlete. There is no substitute for game simulated reputations, and quarterback honing skills, that these lessons will provide. With mastery of the essential QB skills obtained in previous lessons, here is where you, or your QB, will bring those successful lessons to fruition, in a pressured environment that will mimic game scenarios as closely as possible. Here is where you, or your athlete reinforces their ability to run an offense with confidence, leadership and poise, because they have put in the hard work to successfully be QB1.

Youth players
Working with kidsWhen I work with youth players, the number one goal is to make training FUN! Too many youth players are turned off to football at an early age because the goal of their coach is to teach β€œwinning is the only thing!” Sadly, no child, or parent, will care about what a coach knows, until they know that that coach cares. I want all the children I coach to love the sport first, and value doing things β€œthe right way,” with integrity for the sport, and sportsmanship for the players. If we achieve that, we create life long football players and future coaches. And if we do that, the winning will naturally follow those players wherever they go on to play. And those lessons will help them be great people off of the field as well.

Working with teenagersWith teenagers, after evaluation, my focus shifts toward being a leader by example from the QB position. I focus on their academic performance as well as their on field performance. I often incorporate a β€œpractice promise” with the athlete and a parent/guardian, stating that the athlete is eligible to train with me as long as satisfactory academic performance is being maintained or was achieved if school is out. My goal with scholastic athletes is to help them master the on the field skills that will also help them off of the field whenever their playing days come to a conclusion.

What you need to bringCleats, age/level appropriate football, water, towel and a coachable mindset willing to improve. You may also bring up to 4 WR’s to catch for you or your athlete. You may also record sessions for your review. You also agree to make any recordings available to me for promotional purposes and use in social media platforms.

What I can bringI will provide timer mechanisms, dry boards and other coaching materials as appropriate for the lesson plan. Virtually every lesson will have an educational portion incorporated into the session dedicated at increasing football IQ.
