Adam Griggs joined the Rochester football staff in the spring of 2018 and serves as UR’s offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. In his first season in 2018, helped coach two All-Liberty League offensive linemen in Nicholas Balch and Matt Capovani. The pair also earned All-UAA honors. Rochester's offense produced nearly 250 yards of offense per game, including over 1,800 yards of offense through the air. During 2020, Griggs also was a coach for the Yellowjacket running backs and wide receivers. Since he came to the University, Griggs has overseen the football Academic Performance Program, which has yielded seven consecutive semesters with a team GPA over 3.0 and a cumulative GPA of 3.30 entering 2021. Griggs’ came to the University after spending time as the special teams coordinator and tight ends coach at Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he worked under current UR head coach Chad Martinovich. Prior to coaching at MIT, Griggs had multiple coaching stints at Bentley University and Assumption College. He began his coaching career at Assumption in 2006, coaching tight ends for the 2007 season. He then moved on to Bentley where he was offensive line coach, assistant offensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator for the Falcons through 2011. Griggs then returned to Assumption where he was the Greyhounds offensive coordinator for one season. He went back to Bentley in June, 2013 and stayed on as special teams coordinator and wide receivers coach until 2017 when Martinovich hired him at MIT. A three-year starter and four-year letter winner for Bentley, Griggs was a two-time All-Northeast 10 offensive lineman, earning 1st Team accolades in 2004, when he also earned All-New England regional honors. Griggs also excelled in the classroom, earning CoSIDA Academic All-District honors in 2003. He graduated from Bentley University in 2006 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Design and Corporate Communication. Griggs was named the Bentley Student Athlete of the Year in 2004 and 2006. Griggs received his Masters Degree in Education (Teaching and Curriculum) from Rochester in 2021.
