Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI talk with the student about their needs and their skill level, what they need work with, and how much time and effort they want to put into improving their English capabilities.
Lesson 2-3Lessons 2-3 would be about us getting into a routine for our training. We would make a plan, for example, a paper that is due in 6 weeks. We would make sure we have rough drafts regularly scheduled.
Lesson 4-10Lessons 4-10 would be about the actual English craft and making sure that the student is not only improving grade wise but seeing improvements in their everyday writing/speaking.
Lesson 11+The remaining lessons would be about tying any loose ends together, making sure that the student leaves feeling more confident than the first couple of lessons.
Advanced training plan
Your first lessonSince the student is advanced, it’s important to know what level of advanced they are at.
Lesson 2-3Lessons 2-3 would be about making a solidified schedule based on the students advanced status and what their needs are.
Lesson 4-10Lessons 4-10 would be about getting the work done and probably learning something from the student as well.
Lesson 11+The rest of the lessons would be about tying up any loose ends and making sure the student walks away confident.
Youth players
Working with kidsKids are very capable of learning so many things. They are sponges. If I need to alter the way I teach a lesson and lessen the academic jargon used, I will do that but I find most kids want to know more and delve into the subject with no problem.
Working with teenagersTeenagers are fun to work with and you can get creative with your lesson. Making it about everyday life is something that works well with teenagers. They are in a zone where texting and short hand language is a big thing so making sure they know the time and place for literacy is important.
What you need to bringIf you have homework or a paper you need revised, please bring all materials related to that assignment, including but not limited to rubrics and directions.
