Start with the basics of rhythm and body awareness. Teach simple weight shifts, basic footwork patterns, and how to feel the beat. Keep it playful—use music they love and celebrate every small win. End with a short, easy combination they can feel proud of & take home to enjoy and practice!
Focus shifts to quality over quantity. Refine turns, improve balance, work on musical interpretation and emotional connection. Introduce choreography they can perform. Encourage them to explore different styles and find what resonates. These lessons are about transformation—from beginner to confident dancer with their own unique style.
Each lesson introduces new elements: levels (high/low), dynamics (sharp/smooth), floor work, partnering basics, or style-specific techniques. Mix learning with creative exploration—let them add their own flair. Build longer combinations and introduce performance concepts like eye contact and stage presence. By lesson 10, they should have several go-to moves and feel comfortable freestyling!
Introduce transitional steps and direction changes. Work on connecting movements smoothly and staying on beat. Add arm styling and basic turns. These lessons bridge isolated moves into flowing sequences. They’ll start to feel like a “real dancer” here!
Assess the dancer’s current technical level through warm-up, across-the-floor work, and a short combination, then discuss their goals and strengths. Set specific objectives for the next lessons together.
Work on substantial choreography pieces that develop artistry, personal style, and stage presence. Focus on performance skills, conditioning, audition preparation, and exploring new styles to expand versatility.
Build advanced skills including complex turns, jumps, fast footwork, professional freestyle & performance tricks, and improvisation while developing performance quality. Culminate with a mini-showcase where the student performs and reviews video feedback of themselves.
Focus on correcting alignment, core engagement, and their weakest technical area while introducing drills for home practice. Develop essence, musicality, and quality of movement through a variation of artistic tools and techniques.
