Beginner training plan
Your first lessonWe first become familiar with the parts of the clarinet and how to care for it, putting it together and taking it apart, properly storing and handling procedures. We learn proper posture for performance and what an "embouchure" is.
Lesson 2-3This is where we begin to work on support and embouchure growth structure, to ensure a basic technical foundation is strong for future growth. We're making sounds on the instrument at this stage!
Lesson 4-10Learning to read music and associate fingerings with notes. Learning to play our first song by ear, as well as from reading!
Lesson 11+How to relax and enjoy themselves as much as possible! It's easy to become over burdened and "consumed" (stressed out) by music, especially certain conductors 😉 or technical passages... sometimes the best way to play the part is to "let go" and just let it happen!
Advanced training plan
Your first lessonI typically begin with a simple sonata or prepared piece of the students choice to ascertain strengths and flaws.
Baermann Method for the Clarinet C Major and a minor studies at 60 bpm.
Lesson 2-3Possible embouchure and support adjustments, posture corrections, tuning issues, progressing through Baermann gradually.
