I'm Trey Merrill, a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt with over 11 years of training under my belt. For the past 7 years, I've been sharing my passion for the art by teaching everyone from kids to adults. My journey in Jiu-Jitsu has been incredibly rewarding, and I love helping students unlock their full potential on the mat and develop an understanding for street ready self defense. I am also the first Jiujitsu coach on the Teach Me app as well!

Trey has always been one of the most inspirational figures on my years long jiujitsu journey. Both I and my husband has known trey and his wife since the first bjj class. Trey’s ability to not only dissect each unique scenario and pinpoint the needed adjustments to the position, but also demonstrates and explains it in a fashion that the struggling student can pick up immediately is exceptional. His style of teaching creates a safe space for all to think freely and speak openly throughout the leaning process. Trey’s ability shines when instructing a standard large size class, but even more so when it comes to private lesson settings, street combative classes and women self defense focus classes, where there are trickier scenario involved the greater differences in body types & strength and more sensitive street defense topics. as a female bjj practitioner, I feel extremely lucky to have Trey show me the way, and I hope more people get to benefit from his teaching the way I did.

Trey is an outstanding Gracie University Black Belt and an incredibly gifted instructor. His patience and ability to clearly explain techniques and principles make learning Jiu-Jitsu both engaging and accessible. Trey prioritizes safety in every session, creating a supportive environment that encourages long-term commitment to Jiu-Jitsu as a lifetime practice. His teaching approach fosters enthusiasm and sustained interest, a refreshing contrast to the high dropout rate often seen at other schools. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a top-notch Jiu-Jitsu experience.

Such an outstanding way of encouraging the sides of you you’ve never seen , the calm side he helps you reach and tap into to slowly go through moves and the mental aspect of learning moves . As well as guidance to help better yourself with memorizing, he has given such great advice and direction on how to learn. He has been extremely versatile and willing to find new ways to teach the right moves in the right way with absolutely no short cuts
