About your brazilian jiu-jitsu coach

Hello! I have been practicing for around 4 and a half years, achieving blue belt in only 8 months and then purple belt a year and 10 months after that. I have competed in many tournaments, winning gold in a majority of them and pushing myself to always keep improving for the next one. Whether you are interested in competing or just improving your game enough for your next promotion, I'll be able to help you achieve your own purple belt in no time. I look forward to working with you!

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonAssess goals for training and build a plan. Review basic movements if necessary (bridging, hip escape, etc.) Review basic positions and key details to maintain control in those positions
Lesson 11+Repeat with positions until all basic positions have at least two attacks/escapes that can be performed against light resistance. Discuss competition preparation and mindset if desired
Lesson 4-10Learn attacks and escapes from the specific position. Add additional positions to start working from.
Lesson 2-3Choose a specific position and work offense/defense from there. Review basic ways to get to the ground (pulling guard, arm drags, snap downs, etc.). Develop pathway to specific position

Youth players
Working with teenagersTeenagers are both easier and more difficult to teach: easier because they are very quick learners and are more willing to make mistakes in order to explore techniques, harder because without keeping them engaged the lesson can quickly become less productive. I have a deep, contagious enthusiasm for the sport and the ability to be encouraging but assertive. I can inspire a deep passion for the technical aspects that will ensure the child can outpace their peers while keeping the lesson on track when distractions arise.

What you need to bringA clean gi. I prefer you wear a rash guard under it. If no-gi, then a rash guard and shorts is fine
