Beginner training plan
Your first lesson
Focus: To develop fundamental basketball skills, including dribbling, passing, shooting, and understanding basic game concepts.
- **Dynamic Stretching (5 minutes)**
- High knees, butt kicks, arm circles, and leg swings.
- Focus on increasing heart rate and flexibility.
1. **Stationary Dribbling (5 minutes)**
- Practice dribbling the ball with the dominant hand, then switch to the non-dominant hand.
2. **Cone Dribbling (5 minutes)**
- Set up 4-5 cones in a straight line.
- Dribble in and out of the cones, alternating hands.
1. **Basic Passing (5 minutes)**
- Stand 5-10 feet apart and practice chest passes and bounce passes.
2. **Wall Passing (5 minutes)**
- Use a wall or rebounder to practice passing.
1. **Form Shooting (5 minutes)**
- Stand close to the basket and practice shooting with a focus on proper form (BEEF).
- Take 10 shots, adjusting form as necessary.
2. **Spot Shooting (10 minutes)**
- Move to different spots around the key (e.g., baseline, free-throw line).
- Take shots from each spot, aiming for 5 shots per location.
