We will start with simple drills so I can see what level the player is at. For shooting, we will start with close shots around the rim so I can see their current form. For dribbling, I will ask them to show me if they can crossover, behind the back, and dribble in between the legs. For passing, we will pass back and forth with each other and do the different passing types such as bounce pass, chest pass, overheard pass, and others.
Depending on the improvement, he will start working on more difficult shots such as dribble pull up shots, floaters, shooting while a defender closes out on you. The dribbling drills will consist of weaving through cones, performing a certain dribble combo at the cone. Dribbling while trying to catch a tennis ball so they work on looking up and not at the dribble.
Two ball dribbling so they can work on both left and right handles. Mirroring my dribbling. Contested layups. Dribbling with a defender in front of you. Tired free throw shooting which simulates in game free throws. We will also set new goals of how many shots we want to make from certain spots and each new lesson, the goal will get higher.
Depending on what I see in the first lesson, we will start with the close shots and move our way back if they already have a sense of shooting. We will do the drill around the world shooting. We will also work on layups, making sure the correct leg goes up.
