Beginner training plan
Your first lessonIn the first session, I focus on building trust, assessing skill level, and laying a strong foundation. We’ll start with a warm-up and a conversation about your goals and experience. From there, I introduce fundamental footwork, basic ball-handling, and shooting form. I keep the energy high and the drills simple, ensuring a supportive, fun environment that builds confidence from the very first lesson.
Lesson 11+From Lesson 11 onward, we’ll transition to sharpening your basketball IQ, introducing offensive and defensive strategies, and simulating real game situations. Expect more advanced shooting drills, improved court awareness, and the ability to play confidently in pick-up or rec games. My goal is to make you a well-rounded player who’s ready to compete, communicate on the court, and continue progressing independently.
Lesson 4-10We’ll progress to dynamic dribbling drills, shooting off the catch, finishing with both hands, and learning how to move without the ball. Defensive principles, passing under pressure, and beginner-friendly conditioning are added to improve game readiness.
Lesson 2-3Lessons 2 and 3 build on the foundation from our first session. We’ll continue working on shooting mechanics, introduce layup drills, and improve ball-handling under light pressure. I’ll also begin incorporating basic defensive positioning and footwork. Each session ends with a confidence-building game-like drill to track progress and keep things fun.
Youth players
Working with kidsWhen working with kids, my focus is on building confidence, coordination, and a love for the game through fun, engaging drills. I keep things upbeat and age-appropriate—using games and challenges to teach fundamentals like dribbling, passing, and shooting. Positive reinforcement is key at this stage, and I make sure every session feels like play with purpose. My goal is to help kids develop skills without pressure while fostering excitement about basketball.
