Beginner training plan
Your first lessonStart with a short talk to learn a little about who they are and how far they want to go with the game. Always ask “what’s your favorite thing about basketball?” As an ice breaker. This will be a lesson that we work together in. We will begin with stretching together, then stationary ball handling, stationary passing, fundamentals of shooting and end with a game of some sort, tying in what we learned for the day. One drill example for each section: -ball handling: 20 stationary dribbles (R&L) -passing: stationary bounce pass with thumbs pointing down. -shooting: form shots from 5 spots (really focusing on their form) At the end, we will review key concepts that we learned during the day and that will be the end of our lesson.
Lesson 11+By this time, more movement drills are implemented and healthy competitions with ball handling and shooting drills. Everything from the start will be encouraging and high energy to support the players and results they want to see. Some competitions would be: Around the world shooting, zig zag dribbling race, etc.
Lesson 4-10At this point, I’d get players really on the move. We will complete stationary drills as a warm up but then the drills will have more movement. We will have the same layout but we will have progressed to moving up and down the floor at the player’s pace of development. One drill example for each section: ball handling: full court dribbling, zig zag dribble with crossover. passing: half court and back, chest and bounce pass shooting: keep stretching out their range with 5 spots.
Lesson 2-3Everything is progressive! We will continue with the same layout of ball handling, passing and shooting, and each lesson we will review what we learned and add more to it, depending on the player’s ability! One drill example for each section: -ball handling: dribble to half court and back (R&L) -passing: one dribble, shot fake, pass -shooting: stretch out their range a little and do 5 spot shooting again.

Advanced training plan
Your first lessonShooting and ball handling! Implementing moves and finishes at the basket and jump shots.
Lesson 11+At this point, we will continue to add moves, pivots, finishes to their game and provide competitions to help them use them in game like scenarios.
Lesson 4-10By this time, the same layout will continue. Competitions will be added, like 1v1 or hot spot shooting, to keep the lesson fun and lively and allows them to work on what they’ve been learning
Lesson 2-3Continuing to review! Work on more finishes, combo moves and midrange shots.

Youth players
Working with kidsIt’s about having fun and finding ways to help kids retain information. There will be repetition and as we progress, a little more information will be added. This will be an energetic environment where children feel confident and uplifted, no matter the skill set.

Working with teenagersWorking with teenagers, I will meet them where they are and they will feel comfortable and confident but will be pushed a little, so we can meet their goals! Lessons will be lots of fun and smiles, while working hard.
