First session is all about building comfort and confidence. I keep it simple and fun while teaching the foundation. Stance, ball control, footwork, and proper shooting form. Evaluating how they move, how they learn, and what their current level is so I can build a plan that fits them. No pressure, just teaching the right habits from day one.
Now we’re turning fundamentals into real skill.
We add pressure, competition, and conditioning while sharpening their strengths. More game like reps, situational drills, and live reads. At this stage they’re not just learning moves they’re learning how to play with confidence and think the game.
This is where the confidence shows up.
We game speed everything dribbling on the move, change of direction, layups from different angles, and shooting off the catch. I start teaching spacing, timing, and simple decision-making so they understand how basketball actually flows. The goal here is to make them comfortable playing, not just training.
Now we start stacking the basics.
We lock in ball-handling (pound dribbles, control with both hands), finishing around the rim, and form shooting with consistency. I introduce movement drills so they learn how to play not just do drills. Every session ends with a challenge so they can see their growth.
First session is a full evaluation. I watch how they move, how they think the game, their pace, decision-making, and shot consistency. From there we build a real development plan based on their position, play style, and goals. Every drill is game specific no wasted reps, everything translates to live a
Now we’re training like a pro.
Everything is competitive, timed, and pressure based. We focus on efficiency, consistency, and performing while fatigued the way it happens in real games. The goal is confidence, production, and being ready for the next level.
This phase is about separation.
We build their go-to spots, counters, and situational scoring. Live decision making, conditioning with the ball, and position specific actions. Film style teaching on the court so they learn how to think the game, not just play it.
Now we get into detail work.
Ball-handling under pressure, change of pace, finishing through contact, and shooting off movement. We train reads not just moves so they understand when and why to attack. High reps, game speed, and accountability every session.
