Beginner training plan
Your first lessonStudents will be introduced to basketball in a fun, supportive environment. They will focus on basic movement skills, learning how to run, stop, change direction, and maintain balance. Students will begin handling a basketball through simple dribbling and catching activities designed to build comfort and confidence. Shooting will be introduced from close range with an emphasis on balance and coordination rather than making baskets.
Lesson 11+Students will train at a higher intensity while maintaining proper movement and control. They will practice making decisions with the basketball, reacting to visual and verbal cues, and performing skills under fatigue. Shooting and ball handling will be challenged in competitive and game-style activities. Students will continue to build confidence, resilience, and a strong foundation for future basketball participation.
Lesson 4-10Students will combine basketball skills with athletic movement. They will work on dribbling under light pressure, improving balance, speed, and coordination. Shooting will be practiced while moving to help students learn control and rhythm. Conditioning activities will be introduced to build endurance and confidence while staying active. Students will begin applying skills in simple game-like situations.
Lesson 2-3Students will develop better control of their bodies and the basketball. They will practice dribbling while moving, stopping safely, and changing direction. Passing fundamentals will be introduced to encourage coordination and teamwork. Shooting skills will continue to improve through repetition and simple footwork. Students will also begin to build focus, confidence, and body awareness.
